Summer Soiree

August 30, 2009

davidsparty4

With wedding season in full swing, it was a wonderful treat have a (Tuesday) night off and be guests of an absolutely delightful dinner party thrown recently by David Galliet & his lovely wife Diane.  David is the owner of Rented Elegance, a premier floral and decor company, and one of our Urban Unveiled sponsors.

While we were expecting a casual get together, knowing David it is no surprise that he created a five-star experience in his own backyard.  He designed a beautiful tablescape in shades of green, gold (as we’ve been saying this year, gold is making a comeback), & ivory with crystal accents and lots of candles and tiki torches to light the night sky.  We enjoyed an incredible multi-course menu and engaging conversation under the stars.  What a perfect Pacific Northwest summer night!

It was a wonderful reminder that there is no reason to wait for a wedding to throw an absolutely fabulous party…if you build it, they will come!  Here are some more shots from the fun festivities.

Local Artists Featured in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style

August 26, 2009

Grace Ormonde1

Grace Ormonde Wedding Style
is one of the premiere bridal magazines featuring the most incredible happenings in the industry.  So naturally, we were so delighted to find out that local dessert artisan Judy Tallant of Tallant House had one of the beautiful cakes from her swank cake collection featured in the current issue of their magazine.

Judy’s cake is the one on the top right hand corner, and the published photo was taken by our dear friend Sharlane of Sharlane Chase Photography.  Here are some more pictures Sharlane took of the sweet & sleek treat below.  Congrats to the ladies, who are both Urban Unveiled partners, for getting published in such a prestigious national magazine.  Can a cake be sexy?  From the looks of these pictures, we think so.

Emily & Steve’s Engagement Pics

August 24, 2009

E&S1

Emily & Steve are one of our fabulous 2009 couples and we can hardly wait for their wedding next month at the Northwest’s architectural wonder known as the EMP.  Emily has a one-of-a-kind vision and we cannot wait for it to come to life on the wedding night and share it on our blog when the pictures are available.  The wedding will be shot by Melody & Bryan of Amore Studios, and here are some of the fun and colorful shots Bryan captured from their engagement session.

We always recommend that our couples do an engagement session with their wedding photographers.  It gives them an opportunity to connect with their photographer and really get comfortable with getting their picture taken, so by the time they get to the big day, you already have a “behind-the-lens & in-front-of-the-camera” rapport built up.  Because even if you really get along with your photographer, you can still freeze as soon as the camera come out.  (Imagine how you feel during the holidays when your mom brings out a camcorder!)  By the looks of these shots, Emily & Steve will have no troubles on their wedding day.

Lauren & Bob’s Wedding Featured in Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine

August 15, 2009

Travis and I are in a profession where we get to work with wonderful couples on a daily basis, and every so often the weddings of those couples end up being published in magazines…bonus!  In the Real Weddings Section of the current issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine, they featured one of our fabulous 2008 couples, Lauren & Bob, who are about to celebrate their one year anniversary.  They got married at one of our absolute favorite spots for a local destination wedding, Roche Harbor Resort.  (And to quickly boast, Sam, the Lodging and Events Director, recently posted some very kind comments about us on our blog here.  We are just incredibly proud and humbled by his words.)  Here is the spread from the magazine:

We had an incredible time working with this creative and thoughtful couple.  Their lovely palette of white, chartreuse, and teal looked absolutely stunning at the historic waterside location.

Susie Hamidi, of Susie Hamidi Photography, brought her Southern charm to this Northwest event and captured Lauren & Bob’s special day.  We appreciate all of the beautiful pictures!  Here are some more of her images from their wedding.

Lauren’s amazing dress was from Marcella’s la Boutique, and her accessories were from Luly Yang and Abaloria.  Lauren’s mother also had a stunning pale blue custom dress made by Luly Yang.  On-site hair and makeup services were provided by Afterglow Spa.

The ceremony took place at the Sunken Garden across from the hotel.  The Seattle Metropolitan Quartet provided incredible musical selections throughout the ceremony.

Bagpiper Kevin Auld (a surprise to the groom) led the wedding party and guests to the tented reception on the water.

The cocktail hour took place on the lawn in front of the tent.  We found festive blue-green sheers from Pedersen’s Rentals to drape over the cocktail tables.

Moxie Paper Goods in West Seattle provided the rich letterpress invitations and lush paper coordinates.  The lace linen photographed above (used on the cake table) was a specialty linen loaned from BBJ Linen.

We worked closely with Rented Elegance to create beautiful and natural flower designs that complimented the Pacific Northwest surroundings.  Rented Elegance also dressed up the tent from ABC Rentals with a series of candlelit chandeliers & chartreuse drapes dressed with curly willow and hanging cups with candles to light the sky and keep the night aglow.  The white pintuck dinner table linens, silver beaded chargers, and walnut chivari chairs were from ABC Rentals, and the napkins with the embroidered details were from BBJ Linen.  We had so much fun with all of the details!

Roche Harbor Resort provided a Northwest inspired seafood menu that was absolutely incredible.  The only thing better than the presentation (and showmanship as pictured above) was the actual taste!

The stunning yet simple sugar crystal covered cake was made by island favorite Carlene’s Cakes.

The reception music was provided by the always entertaining Craig Lawrence Band.  They had the dance floor packed and even stayed an extra half hour with everyone moving and grooving.

Caroline & Eric are one of our fabulous couples who had an amazing wedding celebration at the hip & swanky W hotel in Seattle earlier this year.  John of John & Joseph Photography, one of our favorites, captured these amazing images of their big day.

The ceremony was officiated by Revered Christopher Breen.  In a very touching moment during the ceremony, Caroline spoke to her parents in Chinese, then Eric signed to his parents (who are deaf), and then Rev. Breen interpreted what the couple said to their parents to the guests.  Afterward there was not a dry eye in the crowd…tears are a universal language.

The delicious cake with different flavors in each tier was created by incredible pastry chef Dan Mikosz of Decadence Custom Cakes.

True Colors Events Designs a Winter Wedding Table for Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine

August 6, 2009

In the issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine on stands now, there is a feature showcasing designers creating table top designs for each of the four seasons.  We had the pleasure of interpreting a winter tablescape, and we couldn’t have had more fun doing it!  Of course we love to think outside the box and challenge ourselves, so we wanted to think beyond winter whites and blues, or holiday reds.

We came across the most divine sequin amethyst overlay and pale pink chair slips covered with paillettes (think Anne Hathaway’s Oscar gown) from premiere linen company Mosaic and we were beyond inspired.  We paired these pale tones normally associated with springtime with grays and black to bring weight to the table.  We worked with Christiane of Flora Nova Design to create beautiful and structural centerpieces that included hydrangea, roses, calla lilies, dusty millers, roses, snowberries, and mums.  We set the table for dessert with beautiful black chargers, champagne flutes, and coffee cups & saucers from Totally Tabletops.  In addition, we had custom cake plates made in a pale lavender-gray by Clara French Ceramiques, which make for a beautiful one-of-a-kind favor that your guests with talk about and cherish for years to come.  Jen of Jen’s Desserts baked individual cakes for each of the place settings with an ornate beaded design, each one just a little bit different.  Sheryl with Paper Moxie designed the incredible paper products including a candelabra style table number sign (that could rotate and had a spot that you could put an led light inside of it so the sign would glow and flicker), acrylic framed place cards, and beaded menu cards.  The silver beaded napkin rings and chairs are from our friends at Pedersen’s Rentals.

The scanned pictures don’t do the feature justice, so make sure to check it out on the news stands!

Nicole & Preben show their wedding video…on their wedding day!

August 3, 2009

It’s hard to believe that Nicole & Preben’s big day was just last Saturday at one of our favorite spots, Roche Harbor Resort. It was an absolutely amazing weekend and we can’t wait to share more about the big day. At the end of the wedding reception, this fabulous couple surprised their guests with a video that recapped the day created by Mindcastle Studios that even included coverage of the wedding ceremony itself! There truly are not words to describe how special it was to share this incredibly well produced and touching video with the guests at the end of the night…take a look for yourself, I promise, you will be picking your jaw up off the floor!
