Sylvia + Matt

Sylvia & Matt are one of our Fabulous 2010 Couples who had their stunning ceremony & reception in shades of orange, gray, and white earlier this year at the always incredible Four Seasons Hotel Seattle.  When we first met with Sylvia and her mom,  their #1 priority was to ensure that the couple and their families were truly able to enjoy their wedding from beginning to end and not have to worry about any of the day-of details.  We had a wonderful time working with this couple and her delightful and caring parents.  Thank you to the uber-talented team of Sarah + Chris of Sarah Rhoads Photographers for these incredible shots.

The Lusty Lady was just about to close their doors forever shorty after Sylvia + Matt’s big day, and the owners indicated that during the last two weeks of business they were not going to put up any signage for weddings.  But the couple thought it would be a lot of fun to have the marquee.  After getting turned down a number of times on the phone, on the wedding day I went to the Lusty Lady when the manager arrived at 9:30 am and begged one last time.  Luckily, it paid off, and Sylvia + Matt have the honor of being the very last couple to have their wedding day immortalized by the Lusty Lady…and I have another story to prove I am a dedicated wedding planner!

Sylvia’s stunning Vera Wang gown was from Marcella’s la Boutique.  Hair was artistically done by Colleen of Halo, and the flawless makeup was applied by Kathy Evans.  We found the men’s gray suits & orange ties at Macy’s, and the ladies were able to pick out their own gray dresses.

The couple had a Western ceremony with cultural influences throughout the day.  In the morning, family members and honored guests met for a touching Chinese Tea Ceremony in the Cypress Room of the Four Seasons.  During the reception, a troupe performed an inspired acrobatic lion dance.

The lush and sunny floral designs were created by the lovely Alexa of Fiore Blossoms.  The ceremony was officiated with love and humor by Sylvia’s brother, Alan.  The couple are big fans of swing dancing, so the ceremony music was provided by the Blue 4 Trio. An amazing evening was a guarantee by including DJ-extraordinaire Austin Beaver in the mix as the reception DJ and MC.

Sylvia & Matt worked with a friend to create all of the sophisticated, modern, and playful stationery products.  The couple treated their guests to tasty favors from Fran’s Chocolates.

The striking runner for the head table and matching cake table linen were provided by Choice Linens.  We obtained the satin gray napkins from Pedersen’s Rentals.

Sylvia has a wonderful dry wit and had a truly laid back attitude about the planning process.  She was not one to get caught up in the minutiae of details.  Her main goal was to make sure that her wedding day was the biggest party of her life.  Judging from the picture below I think we can safely say, “mission accomplished!”
