Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom’s birthday is right around the corner and I wanted to do something really nice for her; she is an extraordinary woman full of laughter and love. So today I took my mom, Marsha, to Abaloria to pick out some one-of-a-kind jewelry made by the owner, Brandy. We have had the pleasure of working with Brandy quite a bit to design custom jewelry for brides and wedding parties. It is always such a great experience. She has designed matching sets of jewelry for entire wedding parties, or different jewelry for each member of a wedding party that fits their personal style, while maintaining a cohesive vision by doing things such as using a common stone for each of the designs.

I can’t tell you how special my mom felt receiving such personalized attention, suggestions, and assistance from Brandy. It truly made for such a wonderful experience. My mom ended up selecting a necklace and pair of earrings that seemed like they had been made just for her. Afterwards she had to pull them out of the nicely wrapped box Brandy put them in to admire the jewelry and talk about what outfits she can wear with them. My mom will be “debuting” her new bling Thursday at Urban Unveiled, likely paired with a nice LBD to showcase the necklace and earrings. She also gushed about Brandy, exclaiming it’s refreshing to meet someone so nice, helpful, talented AND beautiful all at the same time! Thank you Brandy for helping make my mom’s birthday so special!

Winter Getaway – Miami Beach

February 2, 2008

Jesse and I wanted to share some photos of our trip to Miami from December. We had such a fun and relaxing trip – just what the doctor ordered! If you’ve never been to Miami we highly recommend it – the food, the people, the vibe, it’s all amazing. It’s a beautiful mix of many cultures, which results in a friendly and laid back attitude.

We stayed at the Miami Beach Standard Hotel – we spent most of our time there by the pool or at the spa, a much deserved treat at the end of a wonderful 2007. We toured the city via a public water cruise and saw some amazing homes on the islands that comprise Miami Bay.

The main part of Miami Beach (South Beach) was a 5 – 10 minute walk from our hotel. One of our favorite spots was the Delano Hotel – we were mesmerized when we first walked in and have taken such inspiration from the look and feel of the space. Since returning home the hotel has been our muse for much of our thoughts regarding design including our own home and upcoming events. This is a MUST see if you are ever in Miami Beach.

First entry!

January 11, 2008

Travis and I are very excited to be starting a blog for True Colors Events. This allows us a new way to chat about wonderful wedding ideas, new trends, great companies and amazing people in the industry. Last weekend we participated in the Seattle Wedding Show and it was quite the adventure. It is the biggest wedding show in the NW with over 7000 guests who attended over Saturday and Sunday. We were scheduled to load in on Thursday and that day we completely redesigned our booth space! With last minute assistance and beautiful linens from Pedersen’s Rentals www.pedersens.com, and gorgeous flowers from Christiane of Flora Nova www.floranovadesign.com/ we were able to create a booth we were both extremely proud of. Ken and Tania of Azzura Photography www.azzuraphotography.com were across from us, and took pictures of our booth, so we will add them to the blog when we receive them. We also have to thank Bart and Mike of Cakes by Creme de la Creme www.cakesbycremedelacreme.com who were also nearby for all of the delicious cake samples. That sugar really kept us going!

By the way, our Chihuahua Buster wanted to make sure everyone is aware he is the “official mascot” of True Colors Events and that it is a glaring error he is not prominantly featured in our website (he has quite the ego). We tried to explain to Buster that it is a wedding site, not a dog site. But he’s a tough negotiator, he just cocked his head and stared us down. As a compromise we agreed to put a picture of him up on the blog, so here it is:buster.jpg

Happy New Year,
