little u – holiday edition 2009

Travis and I are truly blessed, we get to live our dreams. Our careers are our passion. On any given weekend you can find us helping couples say their “I do’s.” Throughout the process we get to know our couples very well, and we are honored to be a part of such a significant time in their lives. But the wedding day really is just the beginning!

Here at True Colors Events HQ we have decided to start a new holiday tradition, an annual “little u in review” if you will. This time of year it seems fitting to reflect, as well as look forward, so we’re dedicating this blog post to showcasing the kids & pets of our previous couples. Some of them came with ready-made families, a few kids have shown up exactly 9 months after the honeymoon; we have couples whose families are complete with their four-legged friends, and others with kids on the way. We look forward to watching this annual tradition grow with the little ones who are a part of it.

As my grandma once said, “Anything little is cute” and with that in mind, we bring you our first annual little u – holiday edition.

This newborn with the curious tongue is Harper, son of Catherine & Dennis.

Here is Alison & Jack’s curly haired cutie Stella.  (With all that sweetness Alison & Jack couldn’t stop at one…they recently let us know they have another baby girl on the way!)

Speaking of on-the-way, Natalie & Darby may be ringing in the New Year with a bundle of joy.  Here is a great pregnancy shot of our former client and model.

And here we have another adorable Stella (one of our honeymoon babies), daughter of Heide & Gerardo.  It’s ok if you have the impulse to try and reach through the computer screen to pinch her cheeks.

Zinedine isn’t quite a honeymoon baby (January wedding, November birth), but Shaharzad & Bryce were definitely ready to start a family.  Zinedine was recently featured on the blog with a peaceful shot.  Here’s one where he’s a little more expressive being weighed for the first time.  (I’m not always happy when I look at the scale either.)

Abigail is growing up so fast!  Here is Ericka & Jon’s fair-haired beauty looking pretty in pink at the pumpkin patch earlier this year.

And of course the entry would not be complete without including our little nugget Buster.  (Actually he wouldn’t allow it…we all know about his diva size fits.)  Well, he thinks just because Giselle is on maternity leave he can throw around extra attitude on set.  He wasn’t feeling the holiday themed costume I pulled for his photo shoot and refused to smile with his eyes.

I knew I had to resort to drastic measures, so I informed him the leisure wear he seemed so critical of was actually Versace 2011, and unless he wanted Donatella to give him a piece of her mind he better shape up.  After that we got the perfect shot.

Truly Adorable

We are so happy for Shaharzad & Bryce, one of fabulous 2009 couples.  On November 5th at 3:05 am, they welcomed their precious son Zinedine into the world.

Shaharzad & Bryce were married on a cool January day in Issaquah at Pickering Barn.

More Baby News

Another one of our couples recently welcomed their bundle of joy into the world. As we mentioned in an April Post, one of our fabulous 2007 couples, Heide & Gerardo. got pregnant on their honeymoon.

The beautiful Stella Grace was born on 7/22, and her parents couldn’t be more thrilled. While she looks lovely in her Swedish Medical Center issued beanie, we know it won’t take long for her Nordstrom employee parents to make her the most fashion forward infant crawling on the catwalk!

Baby Daze

It’s truly amazing how many little miracles are being delivered by the stork these days. Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting one our our fabulous 2006 couples, Stacey & Brett, and their 12 day old bundle of joy Riley Grace. The newborn is so sweet and adorable with deep blue eyes, and we both took turns holding her and counting all of her fingers and toes.

They told us that Riley does cry, but while we were visiting we didn’t hear a peep. Right now Stacey’s parents are visiting from Florida and helping care for Riley, so our former bride and groom haven’t suffered the typical sleep deprivation just yet. Just let us know what you need a sitter, we’d love to watch her!

Happy Birthday Abigail

Last Saturday we had the pleasure of enjoying the sunshine down by the water at Lincoln Park & celebrating the birthday of a true princess, Abigail. This golden haired 3 year old is the beautiful daughter of one of our fabulous 2003 couples, Ericka & Jon. We think she liked the Sleeping Beauty costume we got her, but maybe not quite as much as the little girl who was sitting next to her as she opened her gifts. When Abigail pulled the dress from the gift bag, her young friend jumped up from from her seat screaming in joy, wrapped her arms around the dress, and rolled to the ground clutching it while continuing to squeal. Abigail remained quite the composed little lady as the jaws of life we used to pry the pink frock out of her playmates little arms. Of course none of this was shocking to Travis and me…we’ve been wedding dress shopping with many brides-to-be and seen similar, uh…situations.

Baby Love

We are thrilled that another one of our fabulous 2007 couples is expecting a baby! Kristin & Erik are a fun couple who live on Capitol Hill with their rescue dog in a recently built eco-friendly townhouse that was featured in Seattle Magazine for its great loft style design and use of earth friendly materials. The couple got married at the no-longer-a-secret gem Pravda Studios in May of last year. They were drawn to the space for its similar loft feel and close proximity to their home.

While the couple didn’t want to go overboard with flowers at their event, they did want to invoke color. One night we were at their place having a design meeting to help them identify the look and feel they wanted for their event. We were sitting at their dining table looking out the window and great views outside. They talked about really enjoying the water and sunsets. I asked how they felt about blue and orange, representing the water and sky they appreciate so much about their surroundings. Looking around, we realized that their open loft home in its neutral palette with punches of color actually had quite a bit of the aforementioned cool and warm tones in it. And a look for their event was born!

Kristin followed an old tradition and wore her mother’s wedding dress. While the dress might have been perfect for her mother, it was a bit outdated, too large, and fabric heavy for her daughter. We took the dress to Fragile Fit where alterations magician Darcy removed the long sleeves, lowered the back, brought the length up and the waist in, and changed the neckline. The end result was absolutely stunning and for under $200 Kristin had a one-of-a-kind creation that made her mama proud!

Award winning Clare with Clare Marie Photography shot great images and contributed to the day’s laid back and comfortable feel. Dana with Dana’s Flowers provided fun, whimsical and artistic floral designs that complimented (but didn’t compete with) Pravda’s industrial look and the couples vision for the event.

In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, the couple had a wide range of tarts and tortes on hand from some of their favorite local spots, Ballard’s Café Besalu, West Seattle’s Sugar Rush Baking Company, and Capitol Hill’s Dilettante Chocolate. In addition, the favors were truffles from Seattle’s own fair trade organic superstar, Theo Chocolate. Trust us, not one favor was left at the end of the night, those truffles were a huge hit! It’s a good thing they had all those desserts to fuel the crowd, after all, the celebrated DJ Leslie with Seattle Parties had the crowd dancing all night long. That sugar came in handy!

We wonder if there is any chance of a blue or orange nursery? Congratulations Kristin & Erik!

And baby makes 3!

Today we received some wonderful and exciting news. Stacey & Brett, one of our fabulous couples from 2006, are expecting! They had an ultrasound today and the doctor thinks it is going to be a girl. They should be able to find out the sex for sure on the 21st, so they are counting down the days. She told us what name she is thinking for the baby, but I won’t spill that info just yet. Congratulations Stacey and Brett, with all of the love and laughter you share, we know you will be incredible parents!

Bundle of Joy!

In 2006 we worked with a delightful couple, Anika & David, who had an amazing art nouveau inspired wedding.  Anika was a technical editor for Microsoft (fully equipped with a red pen when reviewing contracts) and David was a very talented musician who continues to grow as an artist www.davidbavas.com/.  In May of this year we had the pleasure of seeing the couple again when we coordinated one of her co-workers weddings.  At the time, Anika was showing off a baby bump!  We were recently so excited to receive a birth announcement in the mail, informing us that Florence Lucille Bavas was born on 12/19/07.  She is such a beautiful baby!  I think that she looks like her mom, but Travis can definitely see some of David’s features.  Here is a copy of the birth announcement, as well as a picture of the couple on their wedding day.  Congratulations Anika & David!
