In the Spring-Summer 2012 Issue of Seattle Bride Magazine we had the pleasure of collaborating with Seattle Bride Magazine for their Paper Parade feature, showcasing the fun and creating ways paper can be used in today’s events.  It was such an honor to work with the magazine and bring together such a talented group of artists on our portion of this project.

It really is amazing what an impact paper products have on the look and feel of ones event, and we wanted to highlight some  fun out-of-the-box touches.  For this project we were inspired to do something with a lot of pop, and yellow is such a sunny color.  So many couples come to us wanting to use blue in their wedding, but there are very few blue flowers, so we generally get our touches of blue from linens, lighting, and/or paper products.  As such we thought a yellow and blue palette would be really cheery and appropriate to work with.  We are delighted with the results and excited to share them on the blog.

We do love us some bling, even if its bling-free!  We had Paper wizard Matthew Parker create a laser cut paper chandelier and chevron backdrop and striped base that would be a perfect look for a special dessert display.  The always sensational team at Lisa Dupar Catering provided these dreamy and delicious vanilla & lemon creme cake push pops with miniature lemon macaroons.

Who needs rose petals when you can have hand stitched velum bags with yellow paper confetti hearts and horns to blow during a recessional?!  Superstar stationary designer Kerri Efendi came up with this fun and creative design for us we think would be an absolute blast!  Lisa Dupar Catering is once again interpreting yellow as anything but mellow; this cotton candy flavor is none other than pineapple!

Of course we also adore the incredible Sheryl of Paper Moxie.  Upon chatting with her she created these amazing lucite covered keepsake booklet favors that have a collection of love quotes.  These beautiful gems were created with a variety of beautiful patterns on the cover, all in the yellow & blue palette.  Talk about mix & match marvelous!

Now lets take a trip down memory lane for a moment.  When we challenged Greenlake based Janet of izzy girl to come up with a fun paper product, I remember her saying, “I have an idea.”  Little did we know just how cute it would be!  Do you remember “cootie catchers” or “paper fortune tellers” from elementary school?  Well Janet created a wedding inspired one that can also serve as a candy “catcher!”  Now that is dual purpose reception entertainment.

Janet of izzy girl also created these custom tags we placed in these delicious & adorable fondant covered chocolate and vanilla doughnuts from bakery genius Frost.

As you can see,  paper can go way beyond the typical day-of coordinates such as  programs, menus, escort cards, place cards, and table cards.  So have fun, after all…its something you can definitely save in your scrapbook (or even use to make your scrapbook)!

While this couple did not live in Seattle at the time of their wedding, what is more Pacific Northwest than having a first date at a Microsoft party?  This incredible couple wanted to create a wedding that was upscale & traditional with unique touches without being trendy or too modern.  We held our initial consultation with Gayle at their reception venue, Union Station, when she was visiting from Philadelphia.  She asked us what colors we thought looked good in the space.  We mentioned that we thought ivory, peach, coral, and gold tones compliment the beauty of the venue, and in the end those colors were all incorporated into their stunning palette.  We were so delighted to help them bring their wedding vision to life.  Congratulations Gayle & John!

On June 26th we had the pleasure of attending Seattle Bride Magazine’s annual Best of Bride party, which honored the best in the Pacific Northwest wedding scene.  This year it was held at the fabulous Seattle Aquarium and hundreds of industry professionals were in attendance.  We were overwhelmed and delighted to receive the awards in the top category of “All-Around Best Wedding Vendor,” as well as “Best Wedding Planner.”

The Best of Bride Awards are voted on by Seattle Bride readers, editors and wedding vendors.  It is such an incredible honor; it feels amazing to receive recognition for simply living our passion.  In the past 5 years, this is the 4th time we have been recognized as Best Wedding Planner, and 2nd time we have received the honor of All-Around Best Wedding Vendor.  We are so blessed to be able to work with such dynamic couples and talented professionals who make all of this possible.

Annette + Bruce are one of our Fabulous 2010 couples who got married on a lovely November day at Sodo Park.  This creative and artistic duo wanted to infuse their personal style into their event.  It was a true delight helping them with their original, thoughtful and quirky touches such as 3-D save-the-dates, pop-up invitations, a magic show, morse code messages hidden in the banquet tables, a wedding cake in the shape of a twinkie, ho ho, and ding dong, puzzle favors, a surprise musical performance by the groom, and so much more!  Their one-of-a-kind day was featured in Seattle Bride Magazine, and we are delighted to share images from the magazine and more of our favorites from talented photographer Stephanie Cristalli.

Dinner featured two long dining tables.  After the meal, guests exited outside the curtain, and the room was transformed for the reception with round tables and bistro tables to to give the space a lounge feel and make way for the concert (and additional guests that were invited for the rest of the evening!).  The stage curtain was removed to reveal Awesome the Band!

I previously posted a sneak peek from Luly Yang’s 10th anniversary celebration and couture runway show, A Monarch’s Tale: The Journey of a Decade.  This was our second time in a row managing the event benefiting Seattle Children’s, and for the second year in a row it has sold out!  I am so delighted to share even more images from this spectacular event we had the pleasure of managing for our dear friend and source of inspiration, Luly Yang.  We were  thrilled to return to assist Luly with this most special collection that debuted  at Fremont Studios on April 27th.  In her own words, “This year’s couture collection is very close to my heart, as it is inspired by my personal experiences and the transformations as a fashion designer over the past decade.  I have chosen to tell my story through the eyes of the Monarch, the iconic gown that launched my career in fashion.”

This inspired collection follows the Monarch’s journey as she travels through through five fantasical geographically inspired locations (and resulting show segments), Grand Canyon, Bamboo Forest, Amazonia, Antarctica, and Celebration, each with it’s own unique and distinct beauty.

When it came to the event design, we naturally drew inspiration from the Monarch and the Amazonia segment, creating a modern day jungle.  The talented team at Rented Elegance wowed us with an over-the-top butterfly chandelier that anchored Studio B, where the pre and post-parties were held.  We worked with Choice Linens to find the perfect fabrics for the party, and filled the room with Glassybaby in various shades of orange filled with dancing candlelight to represent the fluttering of butterflies around the room.

We worked with our friends at City Catering Company to create an international menu, with bites inspired by each of the segments of the fashion show.  My personal favorite was the icy rosemary granita dessert, a nod to the Antarctica segment.  All of the tasty cuisine & specialty cocktails from City Catering Company were supplemented by mini-cupcakes from Trophy Cupcakes, and wine from Precept Wine.
